Email requiring protection

I just bought my new ring doorbell video doorbell and I got an email today stating that I would have to have a protection plan on it if for my alarm but I don’t have an alarm on my house, so why would I need a protection plan if I don’t have an alarm on my house I just want the video doorbell that’s all I need. I don’t need anything else. Thank you.

Hi @Cathylperez. You likely have received an email regarding some changes to our Ring Protect plan for Ring Alarm users. You can read more about these changes here. The change affecting users who only have a Ring Doorbell or Camera is that a Ring Protect plan will be required to utilize the Modes feature. I’d recommend reviewing this article for an overview of each plan and what it provides.
