My Ring Doorbell is mounted to the door and sits a bit recessed making the place where the door is a bit dark. However it has to view out into the open area of the yard and street where it is bright. The image right at the door is clear, but everything else is blown out. would be great to be able to see to the end of my yard and the street where my mailbox is.
Hi there, @jacks5! The phenomenon described sounds like a case of exposure where the contrast of light outside of the immediate entryway creates somewhat of a limited view. This happens in some environments and can be hard to control, however, depending on your Ring device model there should be a High Dynamic Range toggle found in the video settings in your Ring app. Check out our help center article about this HDR toggle and how to enable.
We’ve also seen other neighbors around the Community share success with simply adding another Ring Camera to their home, when wanting to view areas beyond their immediate entryway area. I hope this helps!
I have a Ring Doorbell Wired. There is no HDR adjustments. Previous Ring Doorbell I had showed lovely blue skies, this new Ring Doorbell replacement has the skies blown out. Trucks driving by or people in the background are just a washed out mess. The App needs to provide some basic contrast & brightness controls to mitigate this problem. How can we get that added?
Hi @user33, happy to chime in here. You’re welcome to add your suggestion for more contrast and brightness controls to our Feature Request board. This will help us to organize and share your requests with our teams here, as well as allow other neighbors to comment and add interest, all in one place. Feel free to link that post you make in the Feature Request board here so other neighbors that come to this thread can easily find your feature!
