Doorbell plus not picking up motion

We have a new battery doorbell plus along with a chime pro. We’ve had it a few weeks but it only seems to pick up 8 out of 10 motion events. People can come right to the front door, we can come and go and it won’t record anything. It’s got an RSSI of 61 (it’s literally the other side of the chime pro) and is mounted at the recommended height (I want to say 1.2m) with a view directly down the pathway to the street. It has the sensitivity turned all the way up (we’ve tried different settings), motion zones set up for most of the field of view and there is no schedule or modes enabled. We also have a floodlight cam which does pick up the motion. If someone rings the bell then this all works ok and is recorded but just motions is missed most of the time. It’s not picking up anything before the motion so it’s not that it’s on a ‘cool down’ etc. any recommendations on what to do please?

Hi @LauraMac. I'd suggest adjusting your Motion Zones so they cover the pathway that visitors to the door would take rather than trying to cover most of the field of view. This should help focus the motion detect more. Additionally, try to create a few smaller Motion Zones and avoid overlapping them. Since this is a battery powered Doorbell, you should also have access to the [Motion Frequency](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003477106-Understanding-and-Optimizing-Motion-Detection-with-Motion-Frequency) setting, make sure this is set to Frequent. If you're a Ring Protect subscriber, check the [Smart Alerts](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360032947972-Refining-Your-Motion-Alerts-for-People-and-Other-Motions) settings as well. Smart Alerts can help refine your motion alerts, but you might prefer having this setting turned off. Motion detection issues are usually related to the settings, and it can take some time to find the combination of settings that work best for your home. You can also link your Floodlight Cam and Doorbell together with the [Linked Devices feature](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360033904271-Linking-your-Ring-Devices-for-Enhanced-Security), so the Doorbell will begin recording when the Floodlight Cam detects motion. Lastly, I would also suggest trying to improve the wifi signal strength if possible. It's actually recommended for the [Chime Pro](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052520292-Using-Chime-Pro-Placement-Test-to-optimize-your-wifi) to be installed at about a halfway point between your router and the Doorbell in order for it to extend a strong signal. If you continue to experience motion detection concerns after reviewing the above, please reach out to our support team at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406#callus) for more in-depth troubleshooting assistance. Hello! I have been having the same issue with my Ring camera missing motion - to include me walking up to the door, the mail delivery person, packages just magically appear on the doorstep without the Ring camera picking up anything. I have adjusted filters and created zones all over the place, and even spent a lot of time chatting with technical support, and still, it misses what it should be picking up. There is no issue with the wifi connectivity, and I ensure the battery is well charged. Now what?
