Doorbell not auto reconnecting to wifi after power outage

Every time there's a power cut the doorbell is not reconnecting to the wifi. I have to press the orange button and redo the setup of connecting back the doorbell to the wifi and then it's working fine until the next power cut. Is this normal ? I think the doorbell should reconnect by itself to the wifi. If I'm loosing power at night the bell will ring once every couple of second until the orange button is pressed again. I like this doorbell but I will have to replace it by something else. Thank you for your answer.

Hi @bf038027902cdaf5a79f37504bf096. What is the approximate distance between your wifi router and your Doorbell? We typically recommend no more than 20-25 feet between the Doorbell and the router at most. What is the RSSI for your Doorbell? You can find this number on the Device Health page, and see more information on RSSI in our Community Post [here](https://community.ring.com/t/how-it-works-your-ring-device-rssi-good-vs-poor/229#M4). If your Doorbell's RSSI is on the higher side, it could cause the Doorbell to not automatically reconnect to wifi after a power or wifi outage like this.

This has been my experience, too. Even short power blips and it won't reconnect. All of my other devices have no issue reconnecting, just the ring devices.

Most times, when a power outage or something else causes the network to disconnect from your Ring device, your Ring device will automatically reconnect when the network is available again. If your Ring device needs to be manually reconnected, follow the steps in this [Help Center article](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034825092-How-to-Reconnect-Your-Ring-Device-to-Wifi-or-Change-Your-Wifi-Network). For Ring devices powered by wiring, please allow for some time for them to power back up, then check out your [RSSI in the device health section of the Ring app](https://community.ring.com/t/how-it-works-your-ring-device-rssi-good-vs-poor/229), to ensure for optimal wifi signal. If this concern persists, please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406). If you are outside of the US, please visit [here ](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-gb/articles/213608406)to see how to contact support.

It happens every time for me. I get a notification of a power outage on the ring app and the chime stops working. I can simply unplug it from the outlet and plug it back in and it works but this is annoying. Why won't it try to reconnect? The chime is about 6ft from the base station.

Hi @user36489. To clarify, the Ring Chime does not connect to the Ring Alarm Base Station, it connects directly to your wifi router. You may need to move the Ring Chime closer to your wifi router or away from other wifi-enabled devices if its not able to reconnect automatically after a power outage.

I think 6ft is close enough. This sounds like a fundamental problem with the chime software not retrying to reconnect to the router. Can I dump the logs from the chime and see why it won't reconnect?

@user36489 If your Ring Chime is persistently falling offline and unable to reconnect to your wifi network, I'd suggest following up with our [support team](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406) for further troubleshooting assistance. The Ring Community is a public forum where we're able to help with general questions and concerns, while more advanced questions may require the help of our support team.
