As for your concerns with your battery draining while it is hardwired, it can be due to extreme weather conditions. This Help Center page will give you information on it. Now for the ghost dings you are experiencing, I recommend rebooting your Doorbell using the Ring app to see if it helps. I also recommend looking at your wiring with your chimes circuit to see if there are any issues.
