Doorbell 2 motion issues - poor range

Just purchased and installed. Received a motion detection from approx 12 feet when testing. Since then it only alerts if you’re within two feet. Despite all range and settings to mid range. Please help

    At least it alerts...... Mine couldn see a moving truck if it pulled right up to the door.
