Disable keypad's "full battery" indicator LED light

There are many posts on redit and the likes about ring alarm customers who have a keypad in the bedroom and the bright green light is far too bright, causing some to go as far as putting electrical tape over the indicator or purchasing a smart outlet that turns on and off on a schedule. We shouldnt have to go to such lengths...Regardless, if the keypad is wall mounted and permanently plugged in it is a squander of energy to constantly tell me the battery is fully charged. Perhaps a better use of this LED would be to tell me when there is a fault with the battery (not charging, discharging, bad battery, etc) rather than stay on forever? Please add an option to turn the "full battery" light off.Regarding the alarm status lights (home, away, disarmed) personally I like these indicator lights to be on constantly when plugged in and not on power saver. Because its an alarm keypad, all I care to know when I glance at it is; if my alarm is armed, or if there is anything wrong with it. That said, it would be greatly appreciated if when adding the option to turn off the "full battery" light, y'all don't turn off the alarm status lights with it.Thanks ring for taking the time to read this and hopefully pass it to the team who can impliment it!

Yes please add the option to turn the battery full led on or off.

We really need this enhancement/feature. Kind of embarrassing they you can dim all the others to barely visible, but this single battery status LED is bright enough to illuminate my bedroom. If no dimming capability, than please consider allowing it to be disabled altogether. How much information can a single LED provide anyways? Firstly, you have to be standing there in front of it to see that it’s on; secondly, if it were blinking I would open up the app to figure out what’s wrong. However, the app would alert you right away that something is awry, and it can do it from anywhere, and it can provide detailed information. The whole premise of Ring is that you don’t have to wait around to observe an LED indicator in order to know something is wrong… You are always connected to it! I just don’t see the value of the constant-on green LED. Mine is covered with black electrical tape, and still green light is radiating out from other parts of the enclosure.

I’m at the point to suggest anyone wanting this disabled bombard ring’s phone support voicing are concerns. It’s an absurd waste of energy, not to mention why it’s brighter than my actual night light and can light an entire room.

Sorry, Ring but this issue is embarrassing. I purchased the kit with the 2 key pads and 3 door/window sensors and just installed it w/o knowing about this problem. Well, today I will be putting everything back in the box and return it to Best Buy because of this issue. I can’t sleep with that light in my bedroom and I do want a keypad in the room - that’s the reason I got the kit with the 2 key pads. I may purchase it after this issue gets fixed. What a shame :-(

Awesome to hear, I just purchased the 2 keypad kit and ran into this. Is there an ETA, seems like this was reported quite awhile ago....

The question is, are they really working on it? When we keep getting this same update for an extended period of time however, we don’t see any progress one would wonder is anyone actually still working on it.

An alternative may be to create a different keypad mount, with a swinging or sliding front piece that can cover portions of the keypad to block the battery light and dim the status lights. You have our addresses. Design/procure new mounts, mold them, package them and mail them out to everyone with keypads. Problem solved!

I have the same concern, my bedroom keypad just glows at night, and is keeping us up. It should only be a matter of a firmware update. When the unit is plugged into the wall, both the battery indicator plus the status indicator stay on. When the unit is unplugged from the wall, both are out, but the status indicator comes on with a keypress. The battery indicator should do the same in both instances regardless if it plugged into the wall or not. Once it is a full charge, shut it off until a keypress. Or, maybe dim it at night to somewhere around 25% power.I have gotten into the habit of unplugging the unit from the wall at night, and then back in during the day.

I see two issues with the keypad: (1) There is no reason for a bright green light to remind me the battery is fully charged. Either dim it or turn if off altogether after charging as others have suggested. (2) Why is the battery light so large to begin with? A much smaller LED is just as useful and would not have to be very bright. If the keypad had been market-tested before full production, all of these faults would have come to light (pun intended) and adjustments could have been made before selling the first unit.

Yep this is also the case with the flashing charging indicator.

How is this not an option that light is blinding and all other lights can be dimmed! I hardwired my keypads because I wasn’t comfortable trusting the battery but that light is insane. I talked to customer service and they didnt seem to think anything was in the works.

The battery lasts a long time, you can trust it. I have gone a month without it plugged in. I know the issue is the lights, but you can rest easy about the battery.

Agreed. I have my keypads hardwired to my existing wiring from my old alarm (using the 24v to 5v USB adapters). For now, I leave the alarm panel unplugged and will plug it in when the keypad batteries get low to charge them up for a day, and then unplug once done.
