Dead BAttery?

I recently (about a month ago) installed a Ring Doorbel, and a CHime +. The doorbell is hardwired. Somehow, the battery is dead. I get a messages that it cannot show live view because the battery is too low (It is at 1%). But since I’m hardwired, how could the battery be that low, and why would this prevent it from working. Likewise, the Chime, about 5 ft from the doorbell, will not operate, saying the signal from the doorbell is too weak.
How can this be?

Hi @user4624. Which model of Ring Doorbell do you have? You can find this information on the original packaging, on the back of the Doorbell itself, or on the Device Health page in the Ring App. Even though you have wired your Doorbell into an existing doorbell circuit, it is still powered by the rechargeable battery inside. Wiring the Doorbell will provide a trickle charge to the battery, but your Doorbell may discharge more quickly than it charges if it’s experiencing a lot of activity. Has your Doorbell been experiencing a lot of activity lately?
