[https://www.reddit.com/r/Ring/comments/f4phux/excessive\_motion\_alerts\_doorbell\_2/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Ring/comments/f4phux/excessive_motion_alerts_doorbell_2/) Had the Ring 2 for three years and never had this problem. We're getting a dozen motion notifications a day from our front door camera. I thought it might be the wind blowing our flag near the front door but this has never been an issue before. There will even be multiple times where the motion alerts will trigger while there is no motion at all. Thank you for the continued feedback on this, neighbors. Our team is always working to improve and add to our features and devices. I wanted to update this thread with the proper troubleshooting steps to ensure for a most efficient motion experience. We've seen neighbors in this thread share success with People Only Mode. As each home varies, the settings that work for you will also vary. While these settings may work for some, your environment may require fine tuning or use of another setting. Our help center article about refining these settings will assist greatly. https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360032947972-Refining-Your-Motion-Alert-Notifications-for-People-and-Other-Motions- Additionally, try to avoid heat sources or reflective surfaces if you are getting too many motion events. Whether too many, or too few, adjusting the [Motion Frequency](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003477106-Understanding-and-Optimizing-Motion-Detection-with-Motion-Frequency) setting can help. For those using customizable motion zones for battery-powered devices, our [Community article](https://community.ring.com/t/feature-update-customizable-motion-zones-for-battery-devices/13965) has some great tips on best use. Settings are best to check, but not the only solution. Feel free to also check out our mounting and angling accessories at Ring.com. :) If you have covered all the bases of optimizing settings and mounting orientation through multiple configurations to no avail, please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406). @Marley_Ring - please stop sending generic responses that do nothing to solve the issue. If you read my posts, you would know that I have gone to support dozens of times over the last two years and have it in writing that there is a known issue with the "People Only Mode" where it throws false positive alerts. I often have 300 a day. The software needs to be fixed and that is nothing the customers can do - it's up to Ring to take responsibility for its own product.

Searched the web for false notifications and this is the first thread I found but to be honest I can’t see that this was actually answered?!? This has been happening since 9am this morning, “person detected” every minute. I’ve done a whole reset and set up the device again and I’ve triggered the bell by pressing it (I’d seen somewhere that may help) nothing has stopped this. What do I do now? I’ve had no issues like this for nearly a year. ![image|231x500](upload://yMv5nrWF0ANauVxr5GqR1u6Db3a.jpeg)

Well I purchased a ring about 5 weeks ago. It was all good very few false notifications when on the free trial subscription. As soon as it ended loads of false notifications. The detection zone I have set makes it almost impossible for anything false. It all seems a con to make me subscribe.

I have the solar floodlight, and I'm getting almost constant motion alerts 24/7. I have settings set for low (as we do have feral cats that roam around) and have my light set to come on dusk - dawn. Don't understand why I am getting alerts for motion during the day! There is no camera on this light - it is just a light and I don't need to know every cat that walks by or when the wind blows when it is daylight!

Update: I've been dealing with this for years and have posted in the Ring Community about it a few times - usually having over 100 false notifications a day and quite often well over 300 per day. I have absolutely no doubt that I've had well over 100,000 false positive motion alerts since I installed the Ring Doorbell Pro. I originally opened a ticket regarding these false positive motion alerts in April 2019 (**about 32 months**) and Ring has given me many **promises to fix this** (including in writing). I have spent hundreds of hours in e-mail, chats and phone calls with dozens of people at Ring trying to get this fixed. They have reset the device, did their own settings and even replaced the device and the problem continues. Many of the Ring people that I worked with would usually promise that they'd own the issue, would escalate it and would contact me with updates. I even had someone that said that they were in the top tier personally promise me that they owned the issue, would get this fixed and would give me updates.... **Of course, most of those updates never came! The fix definitely never came!!** The last "supervisor" that promised that she'd provide me updates was 1 June 2021 (> 2 years after I opened this ticket)... and even though I reached out multiple times to her, she never (refused?) responded... just like the others. Empty promises / platitudes without the fix / responsibility. Today, I had to call in on a different issue and decided to bring up the lack of response (again) and was forwarded to their advanced team (again). This time, I was told that this issue was "resolved" and that even though I was receiving hundreds of motion alerts a day (even though nobody is there), this was the way the device works. Now.... for the first time, I received a technical explanation - because the system is set in People-Only mode, if it senses a change over a couple of seconds, the alert will go off. It could be a leaf blowing in the wind and not an actual human being. (*People-Only mode has nothing to do with actual people.... go figure.*) Of course, although the explanation makes sense - I consider it the "Henny Youngman" type answer! (" “The patient says, "*Doctor, it hurts when I do this.*" The doctor says, "*Then don't do that!*”") - it doesn't remedy the issue and proved to me that this could absolutely be resolved if Ring took responsibility and worked through the issue. Even though multiple Ring employees previously agreed that it was a problem and even the technician today found a bug reference in the system (he said he couldn't access it), nothing has been resolved, but Ring is refusing to fix the problem because they now say it's not a problem. Hmmm... maybe if I close my eyes, stick my fingers in my ears and yell loud enough, I won't notice problems! ***It's not if a product has a problem that makes a company good or bad, it's how the company addresses it that makes the determination.*** If the company had told me in April 2019 that they wouldn't resolve the issue, that's one thing.... but telling me that it was a known issue/bug and making dozens of promises to me without fulfilling them tells me a ton about Ring as a company and their ethics. If I was the only one that had the problem, then I could understand (there will always be weird situations when there are millions of devices), but I have seen hundreds of people here in the Ring Community complain about the same thing and seen many, many more complaints on other forums discussing the same.... And Ring has determined that although we're still getting false positive motion alerts, it's "resolved." :rage:

Ah what a shame - the censored my last comment. Well in summary: 1. Waste of money 2. hurt pride 3. choose between hundreds of notifications vs just a normal doorbell 4. Horrible consumer experience 5. Would not and will not recommend to anyone. Thanks all
