Our current door bell is 6 v dc battery operated. Can I connect the doorbell wires to the two terminals on the back of the ring 3 so the current chime works as well as the ring chime. If not, why?

Good question @Harleygreg! DC power is not supported via the terminals/ leads of our Video Doorbells. For this reason, our Video Doorbells require 8 to 24 VAC to power, or accept a charge, or operate an existing chime kit. If you need a new chime kit, check out our chime compatibility list.
