I keep having to dismiss these prompts. The iOS app constantly prompts me about getting fewer undesired recordings, and it’s always the same camera. The browser constantly shows the Virtual Security Guard subscription button. I have my cameras set the way I want them, and I am not interested in the VSG subscription. I searched for a solution to these issues online, through Ring chat support, called support, and no one can explain why I constantly have to dismiss these unwanted notices. If I dismiss them, I expect them to be gone. I do not want to have to constantly acknowledge either of these annoyances. I asked Ring support to have someone get back in touch with me and that effort has been ignored. I’m a paying subscriber, I should not have to constantly dismiss what are essentially ads.
Hi @gunphreek. Thank you for sharing that screenshot to point out what type of notifications you are getting in the Ring app and Web app. Our team is aware of the notifications in the Ring app about undesired recordings appearing frequently. It is being investigated and worked on to be resolved. As for the Virtual Security Guard tab on the Web app, when you tap the x to close it, does it come back again the next time you log in?
Hello @Justin_Ring. Thank you for the information about the patch for the notifications in the Ring app. For the VSG yes, when I refresh the page in my Edge browser, the icon reappears after having been dismissed previously. Like the undesired recordings notice in the Ring app, it does not appear each time the page is loaded, but it happens often enough to be an annoyance.
@gunphreek. I had the same pop-up show up on my account on Ring.com, but once I clicked the X, it has not come back for several days. Do you have a VPN activated on your desktop? Have you tried using a different web browser to see if it does the same thing?
@Justin_Ring Yes, I have multiple computers, and I’ve used multiple browsers. Like I said, the VSG icon does not appear each time the page is refreshed, but it happens often enough to be annoying. I use the browser on a spare computer as a “monitor” for my cameras, so I have the page open all the time. I do not use a VPN on the computer I use for monitoring, and I’ve disabled all extensions or plugins that could interfere with the performance of the ring.com website. I typically see the VSG icon reappear after updating the browser or rebooting.
Edit: I closed my ring.com browser tab after sending this post. When I reopen the tab, the VSG icon reappears.
@gunphreek. You are correct; after a few days, the VSG tile came back to my shortcuts as well on Ring.com. I have reached out to my team and they have confirmed this is currently the intended behavior for the VSG tile on Ring.com.
