as of last night all 3 of my cameras only record 2 second clips. ive tried everything. even put the length of the recording to 120 seconds and it still only records 2 seconds. i called support and did what they said to do and nothing works. cameras are pretty much trash if they only record 2 seconds. anyone have a fix for this?
Mine started doing this as well last night. I’ve had the cameras 2 weeks with no issue. I’m very frustrated.
Yes, I have the same problem. Just started this morning. Only recording 1 second clips now. Advanced Motion Detection is turned off. Battery is charged. Time to record is set to 30 seconds. I can’t find help anywhere. Getting so frustrated with this thing!
ok i see im not the only one. so this has to be a ring issue. they need to get this fixed ASAP.
I had the same thing happen this morning… I wonder if Ring will respond. Camera is pretty crap anyway, it will often miss people walking right up to it within a few inches.
i hope they fix this soon.
My camera is doing the same thing. Just started today. Didn’t even notify me of a ring.
Just noticed that I can only see snapshots in the Ring App timeline but not any motion detect recordings. However, if I go to history then I can see all the motion detect recordings. The same goes for Ring website, can see the timeline and the motion detect recordings. This seems to be affecting just the Ring App.
This started between 8am and 11am for my 4 cams, 1 Doorbel Pro, 1 Spotlight Wired and 2 Floodlight. Only snapshots all day in timeline. The same on all different devices.
Called tech support and they admitted it may be a bug in the app and they have received calls from other ring users about this glitch. Ring is working tpo sort this out.
Hope this gets resolved soon.
my issue is it only records 2 second clips of recording. it dont mater weather im on the app or on the computer. they say there is an issue and they are working on it. lets hope its sooner rather then later.
“Camera is pretty crap anyway, it will often miss people walking right up to it within a few inches.” I beg to differ. You should set the radius to the max, and then you will get more motion detections. It’s ok to complain about ring but it’s not ok to falsely accuse anyone. It’s bad for ring and it’s bad for us since it undermines real issues people might have, such as the lack of the black stripe which denotes downtime (which would be useful in case something was missing and I needed to know if I should call the cops or not since if the blackout feature is broke then I have no idea if I lost it or someone actually broke in during a possible downtime or not.).
As of 3pm eastern time, the 2-second-record problem seems to have been fixed. I am using a ring doorbell 2. I still have no new recording available on my android ap.
MY THEORY: I suspect this is a codec issue, such that a new video codec used isn’t compatible. This would explain why I can still get the old videos. They need to revert to an older Ring Doorbell 2 firmware from like a week ago.

Mine misses so much as well, I think Ring is total junk. I had someone come right up to the door and it didn’t record anything. Have the whole house prewired for a real system, time to install a real camera system.
