How can you have a security camera that times out after 10 minutes, it’s utterly ridiculous.

The Ring solution and subscription model is based on motion triggers and it’s does not currently offer a cctv type feature. The Wired models will however recognise a new or ongoing motion trigger and start an new video if there is still movement within a few seconds of the last ending.
The 10 minute limit is on user initiated Liveviews where there is a hard stop. There is potentially a 24/7 recording offering in the works, but there has been no confirmation if and when it will be offered as an upgraded service.
