Wired Ring doorbell with Friedland

troubleshooting

Hi, I’m looking for some help with my wired Ring door bell. I have the friedland type 6 chime which runs on 8-16v so thought it would be enough to meet the ring requirements, however once a put a jumper cable between T3 and F2 the doorbell flashes, meaning I don’t have enough power?? I’ve attached images of the transformer also which is next to the master electrical box. What would be the best way of getting it to work? ![image|375x500, 50%](upload://mIoSHfwH9lIwXbiIJsCGdD2sadZ.jpeg)

Hi @Kingwell. Which region are you located in? If you are in the US, the Video Doorbell Wired requires a standard doorbell system with 10-24 VAC, 20VA min, 40VA max, 50/60Hz. If you're located in the UK, your Video Doorbell Wired would be compatible with a standard doorbell system with 8-24 VAC, 20VA min, 40VA max, 50/60Hz. It's possible your transformer and chime may not supply enough power, but it would be helpful to know which part of the setup process you are on in the Ring app.

@Kingwell For the Video Doorbell Wired in the UK, the transformer needs to be 8-24 VAC, 20VA min, 40VA max, 50/60Hz. Yours appears to be on the lower end of that, so you could potentially run into power concerns. However, which part of the setup process are you on in the Ring app? Since you have the Doorbell installed, you would then navigate to Set Up a Device in the Ring app and follow the prompts for setting a device up. If you get stuck on any part of this process, let me know which part (or share a screenshot from the Ring app).

@Caitlyn_Ring, I am at the point where it’s all wired in and the ring doorbell is flashing at the bottom half of the circle, which I assumed meant low power?

Hi @Kingwell. It is possible that your Video Doorbell Wired is not entering setup mode due to a lack of power. First, verify you have installed the Jumper Cable correctly on the trans and front terminals of your pre-existing chime. If your terminals are marked differently, you will have to contact the manufacturer of your chime to find out what terminals represent trans and front. If your Jumper Cable looks good, then you will want to look into replacing your transformer with one that meets the Doorbell Wired requirements. If you are not comfortable doing so, we strongly recommend consulting a qualified electrician for help.
