solar panel not connecting

I have a video ring doorbell 3, not hard wired, so we bought a solar panel to help keep the battery charged....well,.the solar panel won't charge the doorbell....not sure why....its completely charged from the sun, in a well lit space to get 6+ hours of sun, but when I check the solar status in the ring app, it still says not connected!!? very, vwey frustrating.
