Ring Video Doorbell
Ring wired db-plus offline, non-functional
I have the Wired Doorbell Plus / Video Doorbell Pro installed and it has been working for years. Suddenly a few months ago the unit went “offline” and when I pushed the button nothing happened for ~XXXX seconds, then finally the inside bell would ring, with a short pause between the Ding and the Dong tones - the Ding part was abnormally long. I knew WIFI was not an issue, I have a slew of devices using the same network with no issues. So i decided to re-connect the wires from the Ring unit to the door-bell wiring at the door. When i did that, it immediately started working again. Since then, it has gone “offline” a few times, but would suddenly reconnect and start working again after a day or so. Usually it starts and stops working after someone pushes the button. One week ago, a delivery person pushed the button and it has been offline ever since. I don’t believe this is a wiring issue, given the history. From the app, i can’t see “live view” or interact with the device in any way. I do know it is connected to the inside doorbell wiring because if you hit the button, after it times out on its network connection it does in fact ring the inside bell, although slowly. The device-reported WIFI status has always been green. The last reported signal strength was RSSI-56. Is this a common situation with known remedy(s)? Do i need to purchase a new unit (Ring or otherwise)? Thanks

Hi @martited. This seems more like a power issue as opposed to a signal issue. Is the Pro Power Kit still installed? I’d recommend verifying that the Wired Doorbell Plus is installed according to these instructions. Then try performing a full reset on the Doorbell by holding down the setup button for 20 seconds. After the reset is complete, check that the RSSI looks good and test out the Doorbell.
