Ring Doorbell (Wireless ) Firmware Loop
My 3 plus recently started going into a firmware update every other day. It then started trying to update the firmware after every event. For example, if a motion alert was detected, I received the notification and then the doorbell immediately started flashing white and the app would note that firmware update was in process. I rebooted the device and even did a hard reset and added it back to my app. Nothing worked. I contacted support who then sent out a replacement device. I received a Ring 4 today. I set it up and it immediately started installing an update. It now does the same thing as the previous device. I plan to give it 24 hours and call support again...just in case. Is this firmware bad???

Just installed a new Ring Doorbell version 4. The cell phone app says firmware is up to date, yet every time there is an event the device goes into "installing an update" mode for 15 minutes. Happens several times per day, every day. Fully charged battery and 2.4 GHz wifi reception is RSSI -28. Internet service is T-Mobile Home Internet. So far telephone tech support is no help whatsoever.

Hi @WA4CUA. While the Ring Community is a public forum, we can try to assist with some general troubleshooting tips and tricks. It sounds like your Doorbell is not successfully completing the firmware update. Here are a few things you can try: - Reset your Doorbell by holding down the setup button for at least 20 seconds. After that, walk it through a new setup in the Ring app using the steps under Set Up a Device. - Reboot your wifi router. There may be a button on your router to do this, or you will need to unplug it for a a few minutes, and then plug it back in. - Check that the [ports and protocols](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/205385394-The-Protocols-and-Ports-Used-by-Ring-Devices) used by Ring devices are open on your network, otherwise this could prevent the firmware update from being successfully completed. If the firmware update is still unsuccessful after trying the troubleshooting steps above, the next best step is to follow up with our support team for further assistance. You can get in touch with our support team at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406), and your inquiry may need to be escalated if troubleshooting is not successful.

Hi @rxtiger. Unfortunately, I would not be able to tell what is causing this to happen to your Doorbell again since the Community is a public forum and we do not have access to your account to go in depth. The next best step is to work with our support team once more. You should be able to ask to work with our advanced technical team since this is an ongoing concern.
