Ring Doorbell Pro 2 wired directly to Ring transformer, do I need the Pro Power Kit V3?

Hello, I just had a Ring Doorbell Pro 2 installed at my home on a door that never had a doorbell (no existing chime). The doorbell was hardwired directly to the Ring transformer I had purchased. The electrician first installed the Pro Power Kit V3 with one cable going to the doorbell and the other to the transformer. This did not work and the doorbell was not receiving power. The electrician then removed the Pro Power Kit V3 and wired the doorbell directly to the transformer and it worked. My question is, do I need to have the Pro Power Kit V3 installed or is it not needed in this scenario? I've read articles about Ring transformers or the doorbells failing a few months later if the Pro Power Kit V3 was not installed. Can anyone help answer this?

Also, I've called the technical support number two times with no help. Both times I got a support agent that really did not know what I was asking and you could tell they were reading off a screen. Can somebody that actually knows the product help?

Hi @Joe_Ring23. The Doorbell Pro 2 is designed to be installed to an existing doorbell circuit, so the Pro Power Kit V3 is included to ensure the Pro receives enough power. Since there is no existing doorbell wiring here, and the Pro is being wired directly to the transformer, the Pro Power Kit does not need to be installed. Make sure your transformer supplies 16-24 volts AC at 50 or 60Hz, 40 VA max. Additionally, you will need to select "None" under the In-home Chime Setting, which can be found under Device Settings for your Pro 2. This is important to ensure your Doorbell doesn't sustain any damage. I hope this helps answer your questions! :)
