Ring 2 and 3 batteries

I just purchased two Ring 3's...one for myself and one for my son. I also purchased an extra battery for each. However, looking at the packaging for the spare batteries, it says that it "Works with Ring 2". Is it the same battery? Will this battery work with Ring 3? The Bar Code on the box is 8 4286110086 0.
