Ring Video Doorbell
Night lighting (infrared) became dim immediately and never returned to full brightness
I was reviewing the still shots of my doorbell camera (2020 release) and the night vision dropped in brightness. The infrared is still on but no where near as bright. Using my iphone I can see the light locations as the phone camera can see infrared. Faulty doorbell? Everything else seems fine. The camera seems to be filming where it's looking at what a person might see. My landscaping lights show color (no, it's not the, display color option, that some cameras can do with night vision) and everything is much darker. The infrared is still on to some extent because my door is still lit by the lighting just a bit. screen grabs attached. As a new member I can only attach one. This is the dark image. The one that's bright lights up the entire yard but I can't attach due to restrictions of this site.

Hi @stlmusic. The lights along your path and any other lighting nearby the Doorbell's view may be impacting the Doorbell's ability to properly enable the night vision when it's dark outside. You could perform a reset and a fresh setup before making any positioning adjustments, as that's typically where our support team would begin with troubleshooting. You can reset your Doorbell by holding down the setup button for at least 20 seconds. After that, set it back up in the Ring App and see if that makes any difference. If it doesn't, you could try angling the Doorbell's view with a [Wedge Kit](https://ring.com/products/wedge-kit-for-video-doorbell-v2) or [Corner Kit](https://ring.com/products/corner-kit-for-video-doorbell-v2) so it's capturing less of the light in order to ensure its view is dark enough for the night vision to activate when needed.

I ran through the setup again and once nightfall, I checked the camera again and the light source is still low. The camera works fine in all other areas. Even though I never had issues with my landscape lighting, I turned off the lights and no difference in the video. It really seems like either some infrared bulbs have failed or it's just not running as bright as it should.

Fstlmusic - What happens if you set the video settings in the Ring app as shown below? * HDR: Off * Color Night Vision: Off * Night Vision: Standard

SThe ring doorbell wired (2021 release) doesn't have those options. My two Spotlight Cam Wired (2nd Gen) and my two Indoor Cams do have some of those options, dependent on camera.

Fstlmusic - It's unfortunate that your model of Ring doorbell does not have those options, as experimenting with the settings can make a real difference in the quality of night time video clips. The type/amount of ambient light can make a real difference, as well. Good luck in finding a solution. Perhaps the doorbell itself is defective, as you suspected.

C@stlmusic Since the landscape lighting doesn't seem to be making a difference as this is still happening with those lights off, I'd suggest touching base with our support team to see if it's something with the Doorbell itself. You can give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406). If you are outside of the US, please visit [here ](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-gb/articles/213608406)to see how to contact support. Let us know how the call to support goes and what solution they suggest. :)
