Doorbell not recording right

My doorbell is having recording issues. For example, i had the fedex guy drop off a package. It didnt record him walking up but on the next recording, i see the package has appeared on my porch. The battery is listed as very good. It is hardwired. I have my recording settings all maxed out,is there a way to fix this or is this just what it does? Kind of useless to not get a recording or alert when someone walks to my porch, someone could walk up and steal something and i would get no alert.
