Floodlight Cam Pro - Dual Band Capabilities

troubleshooting

Hello all, I invested into Ring about 5 weeks ago and I'm having choppy video/audio problems with my Floodlight Cam Pro. I currently have the following setup. Floodlight Cam Pro Wired - Front of home Spotlight Cam Battery - Back Patio Spotlight Cam Battery - Left side of home Spotlight Cam Battery - Right side of home Spotlight Cams all connect to 2.4Ghz and I have no problems with Wi-Fi connectivity and video/audio quality. I have a mesh setup with 1 x Nest router and 3 x Google points in a 2600 sqft home. None of the Spotlight cams are close to an access point but they all have very good RSSI values that ranges from -40 to -51. Again all the Spotlight cams work good with no complaints considering they are battery powered. My problem is with the Floodlight Cam pro. I have very choppy video/audio and since the beginning I thought it was on 2.4ghz. However recently I've come to understand the Floodlight is dual band and is connecting via 5ghz. On 5ghz the RSSI ranges between -61 -73 which too me explains the choppy video/audio issues. I migrated one of the Google points to the garage in hopes to provide a better signal for the Floodlight; however this has not helped. Ring support recommends setting up two SSIDs, one for 2.4 and one for 5ghz but this is not possible with Nest/Google mesh setup. I'm also not replacing my mesh network. My mesh network has worked flawless for 4 years with no WiFi issues whatsoever. To me the Floodlight cam should be sophisticated enough to move between 5ghz and 2.4 if RSSI values are high. I've tried powering off the device several times but the unit remains on 5ghz. In testing from my iPhone and a simple app running a continuous ping I wanted to see how the iPhone behaved from inside my home to outside my home. Inside my home the iPhone is connected to 5ghz with very low latency. Next I walked to my front porch to the location where I plan to install a Ring Pro doorbell. Here at the front porch my iPhone stayed connected to the 5ghz band with very low latency. I'm not surprised by these results as the Nest router is on the other side of a brick wall therefore the router will be very close to the doorbell. Next I walked about 30-35 feet where the Floodlight cam is installed and the latency from ping tests went up a tad but not much ranging from 15ms to 40ms. This is still acceptable, but what shocked me when I checked the Nest app to understand which band I was on displayed my iPhone moved from 5ghz to 2.4ghz. Remember, at the front porch I was connected via 5ghz and moved about 30-35ft and my iPhone immediately switched to 2.4ghz. This tells me my Nest/Google mesh is working properly by automatically putting my iPhone on the best band for the best performance. It also tells me my iPhone correctly utilizes both bands to keep me connected. Question is why is the Floodlight cam not moving between bands to ensure it has a stable connection with good RSSI values like my iPhone? I truly believe if the Floodlight moved between bands like my iPhone, my choppy video/audio problems would be resolved. Also remember my Spotlight cams only support 2.4ghz and I have do not have these problems. In the end I wish I would have opted for the Floodlight cam Plus as it only supports 2.4ghz. Again my question to Ring is, why is the Floodlight cam not moving between bands to ensure it has a stable connection with good RSSI values like my iPhone? Are there owners in this Ring community with the Floodlight Cam Pro having this same problem? Apologies for the long post but I'm highly frustrated.
