New Home With Ring Devices / Trial
I just purchased a new home that has existing Ring cameras and security devices. I created a new Ring account and added all of the devices to the app. Everything is working as expected however when I click on a camera after motion is detected it says I am not subscribed to a plan and no trial is available. I chatted with support which was a horrific experience then called support and was told that the trial subscription is only available to new devices, not existing devices despite the fact that I have never had a trial and the devices are new to me. Then the offshore support transferred me to his supervisor who he claimed was the best they have and he proceeded to tell me the same exact thing and then tried to sell me on a subscription plan without ever being able to try the service. Really? I have 6 cameras and the Ring security system, why would I need to purchase more? If I am to purchase something it will be to replace Ring because of this absurd policy. If there is anyone from Ring monitoring this community you should seriously revisit this policy and find another off shore support provider. I am the CEO of a SaaS software company who provides support for our customers out of the Philippines. They are 100% dedicated to our clients, we take the time to fully train them and treat them like our own employees, and have been told to never read from a phony script to my clients.

Prior owners. Not sure I will ever understand why a subscription (or trial subscription is tied to a device. My Netflix, Prime, AppleTV, YouTube TV, Max, Hulu, etc… aren’t tied to my TVs. How am I supposed to know if the subscription is worth paying for?

THi @user_0a8b4a. The biggest difference here is that Ring is a security company, and not a video streaming service. Our Ring Home Plans are offered on a monthly or annual basis, so you can choose what works best for you. https://ring.com/support/articles?query=home%20plan&page=1If you purchase a new device, it will come with a Ring Home Plan that covers all of your devices. If you decide this isn't for you, you can simply return the device before the return period is over and receive a refund, resulting in a zero out of pocket experience. Be sure to buy from Amazon Prime to take advantage of the easy return policy if this isn't for you.
