Ring Alarm
FALSE Alarms
I have Ring Alarm at my business and at home. Within the last week I have had 2 false alarms - both caused by false motion sensor triggers. At home, the motion sensor has been in the same place for 4 years and has NEVER had a false alarm. I'm wondering if there has been some updates pushed out which may be contributing to false alarms. Is anyone else having this experience? I am having to disable the motion sensors for now. Also, for both of these false alarms I received no call from Ring. I have professional monitoring for both locations. I received a message at my business that police were dispatched, but no police ever showed. I never received the same message for my home location. I'm not clear what I'm paying for when it comes to professional monitoring. I'm guessing that it is 99.9999% automation....which doesn't work. It appears there is not category related to what the system is designed to actually do - monitor your home. Only categories related to setup, app problems, etc. It would nice to have a category that related to professional monitoring and/or alarm events.

Hi @TampaMike. There are various factors that could cause a false alarm from the Motion Detector. Windows, heat sources, and air vents can all trigger as a motion event, causing a false alarm. We have some information on how to prevent false alarms here. I'd recommend reviewing the placement to ensure there is nothing that might be triggering the motion. As for receiving a call, we have some information regarding Professional Monitoring response plans here. You can also verify that the correct names and phone numbers are listed for your Emergency Contacts under Settings > Monitoring. If you have any persistent issues with Professional Monitoring or false alarms, please reach out to our support team to take a closer look.
