Why does my doorbell not recognise people as person

My doorbell registers anyone coming to the door as “motion” and not a person. It picks up the movement fine, and creates a motion alert, but it consistently fails to register them as a person. I have set my alerts for people only, motion is just recorded, which means I am missing all the alerts around people coming to the door. Every single recording for the last four weeks lists people at the door as motion and not person. What is going on?

Hi @user47823. I'd first suggest reviewing your [Smart Alerts settings](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360032947972-Refining-Your-Motion-Alerts-for-People-and-Other-Motions) to ensure they're toggled correctly. It's also important to keep in mind that while the Smart Alerts options can help you refine your motion alerts, differences in the environment and the position or angle of your Doorbell will impact how effective person detection is. Some neighbors find that they prefer motion detection without using the Smart Alerts feature.
