Video Doorbell Pro 2 (wired), no existing doorbell
hardwired-video-doorbell
installation
I just purchased a Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 (still in its box). My home does not have an existing wired doorbell but I have easy wiring access to an indoor electrical outlet and I have a UL listed 24 VAC 300ma plug-in transformer that I can use. I would like to know if I need to use the Pro Power Kit V3 that came with the ring doorbell as I do not have an existing chime. It also now appears that I need a larger transformer as the ring doorbell instructions state 10 VA minimum and the transformer that I have only supplies 7.2VA

Hi @sol42. If you are hardwiring a Pro 2 directly to a hardwired transformer, you do not need to use the Pro Power Kit. We recommend using a hardwired transformer with the following specs: 16-24 VAC, 10VA (40VA max), 50/60Hz. We do have this [hardwired transformer](https://ring.com/products/hardwired-transformer?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=17566932718&utm_term=&utm_content=140627237000&gclid=Cj0KCQjwguGYBhDRARIsAHgRm49BjuhHIa3bMBqnujBMdu1ejYYzwaoMivgIqCgEouhMl5cFgykFrxYaAtN0EALw_wcB&gclid=Cj0KCQjwguGYBhDRARIsAHgRm49BjuhHIa3bMBqnujBMdu1ejYYzwaoMivgIqCgEouhMl5cFgykFrxYaAtN0EALw_wcB) on [ring.com](http://ring.com/) available for purchase. The [Plug-In Adapter (2nd Generation)](https://ring.com/products/video-doorbell-plugin-adapter-gen-2?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=17566932718&utm_term=&utm_content=140627237000&gclid=Cj0KCQjwguGYBhDRARIsAHgRm49BjuhHIa3bMBqnujBMdu1ejYYzwaoMivgIqCgEouhMl5cFgykFrxYaAtN0EALw_wcB&gclid=Cj0KCQjwguGYBhDRARIsAHgRm49BjuhHIa3bMBqnujBMdu1ejYYzwaoMivgIqCgEouhMl5cFgykFrxYaAtN0EALw_wcB) is the only plug-in adapter compatible with the Pro 2. I hope this was helpful. 🙂
