Ring Video Doorbell (original) stopped working: not charging, not ringing inside Fixed

Our original Ring was working and stopped when I moved it and I used the provided wire extensions. The connectors need to go inside; not stay on the outside [see the images}. I spent a lot of time on this forum and none of the ansers came close and one chap says **that a Ring canot ring an inside doorbell** - well, it had been. Tech support was no help and I can under why since I had 20 VAC at the terminals and who would think that how one inserts the two connectors makes a difference.
