Ring Peephole Cam Low Visitor/Mic Volume

I just bought a new Peephole Cam and can barely hear anything my visitor is saying. It's not a permissions problem because the audio does come through, but it's very, very soft in contrast to my voice over the speaker, which my visitor can hear clearly. Same thing happens on my Android phone and my wife's iPhone. When I go to history and play back the recording, the volume difference between the 2 people speaking is very obvious. Is this a hardware defect?
