Ring Doorbell 2 static covers all audio, not WiFi issue

My ring doorbell 2 has white noise that drowns out all audio. It is hardwored but had noise also on only battery. I replaced it 2 years ago because of this issue and installed another brand doorbell which worked awesome, but dad complains about no doorbell specific notifications. So I reinstalled the ring thinking I could now find a fix....no go, still noise. Reset, checked wifi (which reaches to the street 40 feet farther than doorbell), gone through everything I can find online and still noiseBeginning to think it's the unit and not worth bothering with anymore
