Recharging Ring Doorbell

HI, I am trying to facilitate my first REcharge for this device.Whilst, the video on the help pages for a Gen 2 device resemble the doorbell, the video asks me to complete actions that my device physically will not allow. (Like lifting the face plate).How do I get the battery out of the device?Do I need to get the battery out? I have the unit unattached and can plug in the usb, just dont see any lights (doing it this way).Appreciate any advise, and method to confirm WHICH model of the doorbell I have.
