Nutone LA600WH digital chime issue

The Nutone LA600WH is on the compatibility list. It kinda works. It plays the first few seconds of the chime. Unfortunately, it cuts off before the chime completes. What can I do to make the Ring's chime power module provide power longer? Is there another module I can replace it with that will provide power longer? Can I hack it to provide power longer? I'm even open to a schematic that I have to solder together myself.

Hey @madmartian. Do you mind reaching out to our support team directly on this concern? They can do a more in-depth look into this with you to see if this is possible with the chime kit you have since it is listed as a compatible one! Please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406). We're taking additional steps to protect our team and help reduce the spread of COVID-19. This has resulted in longer than normal wait times. If you are outside of the US, please read our response to COVID-19 [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360041597471) to see how to contact support. Let me know how this goes. :)

The support team was of no help. They only say to use the approved device - which only applies power for 5 seconds. I am hoping the community can tell me what's inside the power kit and how to hack it to apply power for longer - or replace it with an unauthorized power kit that does the job.

@madmartian There is not an alternative Pro Power Kit at this time and no way that we have to alter the way the power comes through with this device. I apologize greatly for this, but if another neighbor comes into this thread that may have ran into this concern, I hope they're able to help further here! I would recommend that if you cannot find a workaround or this to potentially get a Ring Chime or Chime Pro to see if installing one of those helps with playing a longer tone around your home when the Doorbell is rung.

I have the same issue with my "supposed" compatible Nutone LAH600 electronic chime. I have even replaced my transformer with a recommended one even though I had just replaced it 6months ago. No joy. So I take it from the replies you really didn't get any help yet?

Nope. Here is what I have heard on other forums. The dongle basically bypasses the chime, delivering power to the camera. The camera turns off this bypass for a period of time to allow power to the chime. During this time, the camera does not get power. The camera has capacitors that provide power during this few seconds of outage. It's the reason they can't just extend the time through a firware change. It is likely possible to hack the dongle to include capacitors that supply power for longer when powering the chime. But I don't have that level of electrical knowledge.

I have the same model of Nutone Doorbell. Did you remember to put the diode on the ring with the silver strip facing the transformer line? Mine is haveing a different issue in that while it seemed to work in playing the mp3 in the doorbell, it was going through a continous loop of it while I thought the capacitors in the power kit were charging. Now I get absolutely nothing and I don't know why.

The Ring Pro does not require the diode. Works fine, it just plays the first 5 seconds and then there's no more power to the chime.

I have the same chime and it worked great until a week ago. Now it doesn’t work at all. I’ve replaced the chime itself and the transformer with no luck. The doorbell itself works. I get video but no mp3 plays

Does anyone by chance have any kind of step by step instructions on how to connect the Ring Video Doorbell 2020 Release to a NuTone LA600WH. I've tried everything I could find searching online. I added the diode to the back side of the Ring and have constant power supplied to the NuTone. I've gone through the setup on the Ring app and tried all 3 options (mech, digital 1, & 2) with no success. I took out all the jumper on the NuTone as was suggested by other post. I've deleted the Ring from the app and added it back in as a new device going through the setup. I purchased the recommended transformer. The Ring works perfectly with all my Alexa devices in the house to notify me that someone is at the door but the NuTone just won't play. I do have a second ordinary doorbell button at another door it is not needed so I guess I can just eliminate the wires to that one to see if it is interfering with the signal. If that doesn't work then I'm at a dead end. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
