Help with mounting heights

I have purchased a basic ring door bell and a ring doorbell plus. You suggest a mounting height of 48” is that from the ground or the porch? Both entries have a porch that measure approx 60”x 48”and 20 “ above the ground. What height above the porch should they be mounted.

Hi @user51260 . The mounting height is relative to the surface directly below the doorbell mounting location. If you have a porch with steps leading up to the doorbell, we suggest adding a [Wedge Kit](https://ring.com/collections/accessories?filters=category:video-doorbell-wired,category:video-doorbell-pro,category:video-doorbell-pro-2,category:video-doorbell-elite,category:video-doorbell,category:video-doorbell-2,category:video-doorbell-3,category:video-doorbell-3-plus,category:video-doorbell-4,category:battery-doorbell-plus,category:peephole-cam,type:installation-mounts) to angle the doorbell downward for optimal Motion Dectection.
