Dead battery upon receiving

Just received my new doorbell. Battery was so dead it wouldn't even power on. Anyone else receive theirs with a completely dead battery? In my experience, once a battery goes completely dead, they usually won't hold a charge very long if they'll take a charge at all. Don't wanna send it back unless I have to. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
