If I use a wire for the Stick Up Cam, will it still need the battery inside it?

I have a Stick Up Cam with the battery, but I am thinking of getting the wire for it, and keep it plugged into the mains. So, will I need to keep the battery inside the Stick Up Cam, or can I keep the battery as a spare for my Ring Doorbell?
