Ring Security Cameras
Connecting floodlight to network
I've had Ring hard-wired floodlight cams for a long time. One of them died recently and I bought a replacement. Installed yesterday. Light on cam flashed. Setup appeared to be flawless with a 'success' response. But, on opening the Ring app, I get something similar to 'not connected to a network. NOTE: floodlight is 30' off the ground. Again, borrow my neighbor's extension ladder, climb up, push the button, setup, get 'success,' but an hour later the device shows 'not connected to network.' I'm not real excited about borrowing the ladder again. Any way to connect the device WITHOUT climbing the ladder? Any ideas why I get 'success,' when setup was not successful? Every once in a while, I get an alert the camera in question detects motion. The app shows 'no network,' and the app shows no events. What am I missing?

First, I have 5 of those cameras 30' off the ground. Have for years and all have worked perfectly. I'm happy. RSSI for the camera in question is 44. All other working camera's RSSI range from 39 to 63 - most around 49-55.

RI've learned a little more. Camera/floodlight shows in Ring app as "offline." Yet, I can go to event hx and see a number of times the camera 'tripped.' On my android phone, I can swipe down, see a list of notifications and, among those, are stills of the camera in question, so it isn't just Ring showing notifications. I have all cameras set to the alert tone. All use that tone except the camera in question. Still, actual motion in range of that camera triggers . . . nothing. Any ideas?

CHi @requiredusername, happy to chime in here. The Floodlight Cam works best when it's mounted at a height of around 9 feet. Having it mounted all the way at 30 feet may not provide the best performance regarding the motion detection. We can't guarantee it's going to work properly as it was not designed to be mounted that far from the ground. I would typically recommend factory resetting your Floodlight Cam before attempting to reconnect it in the Ring app, but it may be best to follow up with our support team on this first. They may ask you to walk through a reset while you're on the phone with them as part of the troubleshooting process, which would require physically accessing the Camera via the use of a ladder. Please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406) for further troubleshooting assistance. If you are outside of the US, please visit [here ](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-gb/articles/213608406)to see how to contact support.

RAgain, I've had a number of cameras ~30" off the ground and had them for years. All have worked perfectly. It'll be 1-2 weeks before I can get someone and a ladder.

Hi @requiredusername. What is the RSSI for this device? You can find the RSSI in the Device Health section of the Ring app. Also, with the Floodlight Camera being mounted that high, you will not be able to achieve proper motion detection for the camera or the lights.
