No more audio for videos in Neighbors app (iOS)?
trending
neighbors

I don't know if this is a bug or a change to the app, but since last week's app update, videos that people post in the Neighbors app no longer have any audio. The mute option is gone from each video and there is no sound at all when watching a video. I can sort of understand why this may have been removed intentionally since audio sometimes kept playing when you went back to the list of posts, but sometimes the best part of Neighbors posts is seeing/hearing a would-be porch pirate get caught in the act! Has anybody else noticed this (or can verify that they have the same issue)?

Thank you for the continued feedback on this, neighbors! After further testing I was able to successfully obtain audio for videos in Neighbors community posts. Here's how: From the main Ring app, open the Main Menu (3 lines top left) and select "Neighbors". When viewing a video in your Neighbors feed, there will be a speaker/ audio icon at the bottom left of the video playback screen, which can be toggled on or off. **If you are using the Neighbors by Ring app** this audio toggle is located in the same place as described above, however, it may not display for some neighbors. While the icon might not display, tapping this area as if the icon were there should still enable audio. It may take a couple taps! In the meantime, our team is aware and working to improve this experience for all neighbors! :)

I use the Neighbors app on my phone and your suggestions still do not work. I have no audio icon on the videos posted. And multiple tappings on the screen in the corner as suggested does absolutely nothing to turn on sound. The latest update has only darkened the screen to take away all the white platform of the app. This will take some getting used to, and definitely reduces my faith in the Ring product!!

This is NOT a solution and you shouldn't mark it as such.

It is very frustrating, and thought for the longest that it was just my app. Deleted then reloaded it, still no audio. Then decided to do internet search and found this thread. Glad to know it’s not just me!!! Wish they’d update the update soon!!!

Hey neighbors. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I've looked into this and shared this information with the team that handles the Neighbors app. When more information becomes available, I'll be sure to share it here. As for now, I'm going to mark this post as a solution so that other neighbors experiencing this concern will know that we are looking into it. Thanks, neighbors!

It is NOT a solution. It is an unnecessary workaround that works for only some users. It's stunning that a company the size of Amazon would regularly release untested code that doesn't work properly and leaves its users SOL.
