Ring Alarm Gen. 2 Keypad not charging. We have tried different USB ports, used charging cable with headphones to ensure it is working and it is. What is the next action to take. The battery is almost drained.

Hi @Dagenhaaz. Please make sure the charging cable is firmly plugged into both the Keypad and the power outlet. If it's loose on either end, the battery will not charge. Try performing a reset on your Keypad. You can find out how to do that in this Help Center article. If that doesn't resolve this issue, our support team can take a closer look.

I've got two possible fixes. Mine has never been chargeable. However, I pried it open and connected the usb cable into it and the connector was able to sink all the way into the female part. Now I'm getting the green charging light. If you don't hear and feel a solid connection, maybe the usb part is too thick to squeeze into the slot. You could also take a razor and shave off some of the plastic housing on the cable head.  However, what I was planning to do was to bypass the lithium ion battery before I figured out it was just a connector issue. If you're still not seeing a charge with the idea above, just snip the wires on the internal battery and add your own. One 3.7 volt LIPO battery would do it. 2 new double A's would likely do it as well. Yea, I'd have wires and batteries taped to it, but it's an immediate fix that I needed.

Thank you for this comment. I noticed that my plug was sticking out a bit. I pushed it in really hard - I still have a red mark on my finger and it’s sore to the touch! - and now it’s charging. Seems like a stupid design flaw. It shouldn’t be painful to plug it in properly. Thanks again!

This was very helpful as was the comment about pushing the plug in until it hurts your finger. I’d tried everything, but it’s just poorly designed (kind of like the response from Ring above). Thank you for taking the time to post this.

Had the same issue - had 4 orange charger cables supplied by ring and although I thought they were pushed in enough to connect, the panel still wasn't charging.  Had a hunt around the home as have numerous of these cheap cables and found a small thin one - plugged straight in and started charging immediately.  Daft that ring doesn't supply a cable that charges ALL of it's devices.  The orange cables are good enough for it's removable batteries etc. but NOT for this alarm panel
