Gen 1 vs Gen 2 Motion Sensor

Hi all. I have a gen 2 alarm system and need to add some more motion sensors. I understand the gen 1 motion sensors (which are now cheaper to buy) are compatible with the gen 2 alarm system. Is there any difference between the sensors apart from shape / battery? Many thanks.
