Ring doorbell battery does not ‘click into place’

I purchased a ring video doorbell 3 plus on Amazon. I think they sold me a returned doorbell advertised as new. When inserting the battery it does not ‘click into place’ like the videos say that it should. I think there may be a small plastic part that it’s supposed to click into place, broken off. Should there be a small plastic latch type thing that the battery is supposed to ‘click into’?
