Ring did not record a crime in front of it!

Hi, Yesterday I discovered that the catalytic converter has been stolen from my car right outside the door in front of the ring doorbell. It picks up the usual stuff, deliveries, cars driving past etc. The criminals must have been there a few minutes (a neighbour heard something about 12.30am) as they have used a chunky cutter to cut through the pipe at both ends. I look on my history and there is nothing around that time, no movement or anything. There is a small flash around the right time but nothing else. Could the criminals hack the doorbell or put something in front to confuse it?
