Peephole cam charge while in use

Sorry for the question, but I can't find the answer in the forum or product documentation.I would like to use the peephole cam for an apartment that I am away from for several months at a time. I was thinking about running and extension cord to a USB charger and leaving the battery cover off so the battery would always stay charged when I am away. I am simply wondering if the peephole camera functions while the battery is inserted and being charged.I was thinking about run
