  Hi @D77. While you can wire the Doorbell 2 to an existing doorbell circuit to provide a trickle charge to the battery, you may still need to manually charge the battery if it gets low. Approximately how many motions, dings, and Live Views does your Doorbell experience each day? You can check this by looking at the Event History log.

  I am having the same challenge and cannot see live views of my device. I've had the Ring Doorbell 2 for less than a year and it is wired. The challenge is this is a remote vacation home of mine which I can't easily get to. How long should the batter last? There is a lot of activity for recording based on facing a frequently traveled street. If the camera is hard wired then why is the batter necessary for me to view things? Is there a doorbell camera that doesn't require a batter? Please advise. Thank you

  Hi @ffpratt. While hardwiring one of our battery-operated Doorbells, such as the Doorbell 2, will provide a trickle charge, the battery may still need to be manually charged if it gets too low. This can happen if the Doorbell is facing a high-traffic street and receives a lot of motions, dings, or Live Views, as it is draining the battery more quickly than it is being charged. Since this is at a vacation home that you cannot easily get to, you could look into the [Doorbell Pro](https://shop.ring.com/products/video-doorbell-pro), which runs off of the power from your existing doorbell circuit and does not have a battery that needs to be charged. With that said, it is important to note that if any technical concerns do arise, you would need to physically be with the Doorbell to troubleshoot it. I hope this helps clear things up! :)
