Ring Video Doorbell
Bright street light causing night vision to not turn on
I'll caveat this post with the fact that other people have had similar issues (I have searched), but I've not seen a post about it within the last 2 years, so hoping Ring has done something to fix this... My issue: as you can see from the attached photo, there is a REALLY bright street light opposite my doorbell which is causing night vision mode to not activate. It's right in the middle of the frame, so a wedge is unlikely to help - the only thing that does help is if someone/thing is directly in front of the light. So my question is, is there anything that can be done via the app or through the device settings? (I'm on a ring doorbell 2, so no changing HDR etc. through video settings.) I've seen answers like "get a floodlight for your porch" or "buy an IR light for the porch" - with the cost of electricity, I'd rather not be running a light all night long just so my doorbell can do its job. Thanks in advance!

Hi Tom, Thanks for your reply. I feared that would be the only solution, thanks for confirming!

Hi @user27406. Unfortunately, with the light pointing directly at the camera, you're going to have a less than optimal night time picture. The only way to mitigate this would be to place something in front of the light, blocking it from shining into your camera lens.
