Person Detection not working most of the time on Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Pro
Perhaps someone here can help me with Person Detection on a Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Pro that is mounted on my soffit and mostly faces downward. Person Detection is enabled, sensitivity is correct, zones are appropriate for motion detection for both lights and camera, notifications are enabled as well as Smart Alerts. I've already tried to reset the cam by turning the power off then on. I've also increased the sensitivity to no avail. Motion zones and light zones are all set as large as possible. I've also set every other available option that is remotely capable of affecting Person Detection. I'm out of ideas, and Ring nor Google have anything useful that I haven't already tried. Is it possible that because it faces mostly downward towards the ground to allow me to see our patio door that the AI isn't smart enough to determine that it's a person that's more horizontal than vertical? Any positive suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I have the same problem. I just walked around my driveway and got a motion detection. 5 minutes earlier a cat walked across my driveway, which triggered a person detection! As such, it's pretty much useless.

Hi @ThorPan. You're correct that having your Floodlight Cam angled downwards can impact the motion detection and the Person Detection alerts. Smart Alerts are designed to help you cut back on how many motion alerts you receive that are not caused by people, but you may still get false alerts at times due to various factors. This includes how your Floodlight Cam is positioned as well as the environment. Some neighbors find that they prefer to have the Smart Alerts off, while for other neighbors it works better for them.
