Floodlight camera plug in mount too short

I need to install a flood light cam at my back yard but there is no electrical outlet close enough to use the 20 ft plug in mount. The closest outdoor electrical outlet is around 60ft. Can I use an outdoor extension cord to connect the plug in mount or would be better to cut the end of the extension court and connect the wires to the floodlight? What should be the extension cord gauge? Thanks

Hi @user26281. The Floodlight Cam Plug-In is designed to be plugged into a standard electrical outlet, and there may not be surge protection on extension cords. I do also want to let you know that dismantling your Floodlight Cam in any way, including cutting any wires, can void the [warranty](https://ring.com/warranty). I'd recommend consulting a qualified electrician if you plan to cut any wires or change any wiring in your home.
