Hey @watt and @DocFox! With the Floodlight Cam having a 270-degree field of view for lights, it is possible that something outside of your zones is being detected. I recommend minimizing the light zones and sensitivity to the minimum to see if this improves. Also, check the surrounding area for any heat sources that could be triggering the lights on your Cams. Let us know how this goes. :)

M@SunjPer Ring, if firmware shows up as a number, then its not the latest. It needs to say "Up to Date." @joebeech@SunjThere are limited things that we can do to try and trigger a firmware update. Power cycling has worked for some of us. Based on my calls with Ring support, my understanding is that normally the firmware update has to be in the device's queue in order to update. If you call Ring support, Level 1 and 2 cannot force a firmware update either. They can queue it up but would try the same things that we as customers have tried. I don't know how Ring forced the firmware updates for floodlight cams that wouldn't update the firmware previously. They may be rolling it out the firmware update in batches, so hopefully then your floodlight cams will update soon. If you do call Ring support, I would suggest that you request to talk to Level 2 so that they can quickly escalate while you are on the call, instead of making you re-do all the testing that many of us have already done over the past few months. > @joebeech wrote: > > What do I do to corect the problem?

S@meme Thanks for your reply, I called ring and they just said that my firmware is current and just have to wait really for them to go through the issues firmware by firmware, not much can be done apart from to wait for the automatic update. Asked if they could do a manual firmware update but no such luck, just gotta wait it out.

Watt, I'm having the exact same problem!!! Ring support told me that they have not heard of this problem before.... have you called ring support about this? When did you get your cameras? I installed two replacement floodlight cameras this past Thursday 11/14. They both have manufacture dates of October 2019. The floodlights on both floodlight cams go on every 30 minutes on the DOT ( just the lights, not the cameras) all night long. I went into light settings and turned down the light timer to 30 secs so as to not waste electricity and burn out the bulbs. They are not being triggered by anything external, which wouldn't make sense anyway for such precision in the repetition. Adjusting the sensitivity does not stop it. Besides, I wouldn't want to turn down sensitivity because that defeats the purpose of having automatic motion sensitivity. I've spent the last four days trying to figure out what's going on, and I've spent hours on the phone with ring support. They have not been able to figure it out yet. Also, my floodlight cams are on firmware version 1.16.00273, and also for unknown reasons they are unable to update the firmware. And they are both also unable to connect to Pro chimes. What version is your firmware? And were you able to connect to Pro chimes? If you have not already done so, please call ring support and let them know that you're having this issue.

NWell, if you've had this problem since at least Nov 17, 2019 - that I just installed my camera with the same faulty firmware (with no update yet) - I'm nearing the conclusion that this is a hardware problem - such that the most recent firmware cannot correct. Consequently, my best guess is that Ring would need to deploy a special firmware release to these faulty cameras, but not to others. Maybe this is not a big mess for Ring, given that I suspect most of their customers have correctly functioning lights - but it's a mess for those customers that have these unresolved issues - completely unrelated to their wifi networks, installation, app, etc. Ring - own up to this, and communicate with your customers!

M@Nacho Yes, it's quite frustrating.... seeing the floodlight go on and off all night/morning long. The floodlight cam is an expensive item, with limited functionality. Add to that the time and expense of setting up the floodlight cams each time. Neighbors have expressed concerns about seeing the lights go on all the time because they are worried that there might actually be an intruder setting off the lights. But with so many constant false lightings all night long and every night, it's lost it's main functionality as a security device. It's not clear to what extent Ring actually monitors the issues on this forum. Each time I've either called in or emailed Ring support, the response is simply that they are working to fix the issue but wouldn't (couldn't?) explain the cause. The fix seemed imminent about a month ago, but here we are almost 2020. From the Amazon reviews, it seems like people statrted observing and reporting this issue around July/August 2019. It does seem like there might be a hardware component of the all the problems (floodlights, inability to update firmware?) combined with a firmware (non-functioning snapshot?). I emailed someone at Ring again yesterday to ask for an update. If I hear anything back or anything different, I'll post it here. Happy New Year to All! > @Nacho wrote: > > Well, if you've had this problem since at least Nov 17, 2019 - that I just installed my camera with the same faulty firmware (with no update yet) - I'm nearing the conclusion that this is a hardware problem - such that the most recent firmware cannot correct. CHey neighbors! Thank you all for your continuous engagement in this thread. Rest assured that all information gathered from this thread is being passed onto the team here. In the meanwhile, please continue to post your firmware version, along with the hardware version of your Floodlight Camera so that the information can be passed on as well. Staying in contact with our Support Team regarding any concerns is always recommended. We understand that you must do what is best for you all and we want to thank you for your participation in the Community!

NI think I'm talking to a bot, but.... What we need to know is whether these Ring Floodlights stuck at 1.16.00273 are bricks or not.

N> @Nacho wrote: > > I think I'm talking to a bot, but.... > > What we need to know is whether these Ring Floodlights stuck at 1.16.00273 are bricks or not. Ring remains silent on this matter. If it were true, Ring could say that the firmware-stuck Floodlights will update to a newer version and provide an estimated timeframe. So therefore I conclude that my Ring Floodlight will never update, is a brick, and is to be returned to Best Buy. With no meaningful insights from Ring on whether these are bricks or not and the continued problems that I'm having with the Ring Floodlight (lights coming on every 30 minutes, no Snapshot Capture, and no Color Night Vision) I've decided to ring in the new year by taking Ring out of my home.

M@Vazgen Thanks for your reply. After calling Ring support several times over a couple days, I was able to speak directly with a Level 2 on Saturday night, and we spent about 2 hours troubleshooting and running various tests. He escalated (to software engineers). I've emailed a link to this thread to the Level 2 that is working on this. His shift doesn't start until 11 AM MST, so hopefully, it will help if they realize that I am not the only one with these issues. I thought from the beginning that it's a bad batch of cameras because both my floodlights have this issue. What's been determined is 1) It is NOT related to the sensitivity (distance) setting in the light settings. Thus not related to external motion triggers. This has been tested more than three times by me and then by Ring. To me, reducing the functionality of the lights would not be an acceptable solution, as then an intruder would practically be in your house by the time the lights kick on. There would be not light deterrent and little hope that you get a decent picture of the intruder. 2) It is not due to electrical issues. 3) Neither of my floodlight cameras are able to update the firmware, even through a cellphone hotspot. What is the firmware version for your floodlight(s)? > @Vazgen wrote: > > I am having the same issue. V@meme Thanks for your reply. How do I find the Firmware version? I bought the device 2 weeks ago. > @meme wrote: > > @Vazgen > > > > Thanks for your reply. > > > > After calling Ring support several times over a couple days, I was able to speak directly with a Level 2 on Saturday night, and we spent about 2 hours troubleshooting and running various tests. M[@Vazgen](https://community.ring.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/8229) I am on an android phone Ring app. I assume an iphone will be similar. The firmware version is in "Device Health." There are a couple ways to get to "Device Health" for each device. Here is one way. 1. Click on the three horizontal lines in the upper left corner of the app. 2. This should pull out a left-side menu. 3. Click on "Devices." 4. Then in the "Security Cameras" section of the screen, click on your floodlight cam, which should take you to a settings dashboard for that camera 5. Click on "Device Health" 6. In the "Device Details" section of the screen, the last line shows "Firmware." For example, my firmware version is 1.16.00273 There doesn't seem to be a way to get to it from a web browser when logged in.

CI installed a new floodlight camera yesterday and it is doing the same with the light coming on every thirty minutes for about 20 seconds. It did this all night. When I check the FW version in the IOS App it simply states that it is up to date.

KI have the same issue - floodlight cam light is going on all night long. I have turned down the light sensor to almost nothing and it is still going on all night long. This is a defect and Ring needs to acknowledge it. I have older versions of the floodlight cam and they work fine; it's this new version. I cannot see my firmware version - on my Device Details all it says is that my firmware is up to date.

My floodlight cam is now cycling on and off every 30 seconds, with no motion detected or any alert sounding. Trying to get help thru RING is an awful ordeal.

CI'm having the same issue and I had to turn the motion sensor zones off, because its coming on and off about every 20 - 30 seconds with no motion detection. This makes me very unhappy with the product now.

SI have just installed my 3rd set of floodlight cams - both are stuck on the old firmware version - even after the level 2 rep promised this wouldn’t be the case I’m fed up of this service from ring - thinking of switching to nest

EHappy Holidays Everyone. I just checked my Ring app and the flood light I had problems with is now showing firmware is up to date. Snapshot Capture is now working as well. As for the issue of the lights turning on every 30mins I am not sure. My flood light that had problems is in an area of my backyard that I don't have direct visibility on. Check and see if your flood cam now have a firmware that is up to date and if it fixes your issues.

MHappy Holidays to all! @eek626 Thanks for your update! Unfortunately, both of my floodlight cams are still on the same old firmware and snapshots still don't work. Both sets of lights still on turn by themselves automatically every 30 minutes. And stranger still, recently I noticed that sometimes they'll go on every 10 or 15 minutes by themselves for a period. The behavior of the floodlights is getting odder and odder. Even though Ring told us over a month ago that they were working on a fix, it feels like they have no idea what the problem is or how to fix it.... > @eek626 wrote: > > Happy Holidays Everyone. > > > > I just checked my Ring app and the flood light I had problems with is now showing firmware is up to date. CI see now... On my 2 floodlight cams with the older firmware (not up to date) snashot capture doesn't work and the lights are more sensitive. On my other 2 floodlight cams the firmware is up to date and snapshot capture works just fine. Note: I spent an hour with support trying to get my 2 old firmware cams to up date (power cycle, reset, re-setup, motion envents, etc). Support guy was unsuccessful - nothing worked. His last stance was "the lights will likely up date on their own, call back in January if they don't" - :-(
