False alerts due to tree shadows on ground

I have two of the 4 flood lights that are picking up movenent from our trees letting the sun down on the ground moving with the wind. I've got the motion set at the lowest but still can't get them to stop. Never had this issue with another brand battery powered cams. Any ideas?

Hi @nizmoz. Our battery operated Cameras utilize a Passive Infrared motion detection system. What this means is that your Camera detects shifts in temperatures and translates that into motion. From the scenario you described, it sounds like the sun is creating a "hot spot" and when the tree's shadow is cast over the hot spot, it changes temperature and is ultimately translated into a motion event. One way to mitigate this would be to use our [Motion Snooze](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000047206-How-to-Use-Motion-Snooze-and-Global-Snooze) feature. This will turn off alerts for a selected amount of time. I hope this information serves you well!

Is that the same for the floodlight cams? Those are the ones I have.

Hi @nizmoz. I apologize, I misread your post as you have battery power cameras. No, our Floodlight Cams only utilize our PIR detection for the lights. The Camera uses our Advanced Motion Detection.
