Ring App Dashboard Slow To Load After Adding MyQ Garage Tile
android
troubleshooting

After I added the MyQ Garage tile to the Ring dashboard within the mobile app (Android). I noticed that it's always very slow to load. Whenever you open the app the dashboard section just spins and says "This is taking longer than expected...". It loads eventually but this doesn't appear to be normal. Anyone else with MyQ Garage tile notice the same thing?

Hey there, @JetRocket11! The MyQ tile addition should not slow down your Ring app. I recommend closing any other apps in the background other than Ring and MyQ, as well as ensuring vpn is disabled. Try also on wifi only, or cellular data only, to see if one connection is quicker than another. As you are using android, please check for any [apps that might conflict with the Ring app](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005889983-Android-Apps-that-Conflict-with-the-Ring-App). If this concern persists, the best next step will be to remove and reinstall the Ring app on your mobile device. I hope this helps! :)

Hello @Marley\_Ring So it may not be an issue with the MyQ tile. Since you mentioned VPN, I have Google Fi as my cell provider. The service uses VPN for security and network enhancement and is always active (WiFi and cellular). I turned it off temporarily and the dashboard seems to load fine (WiFi and cellular). When I turn the Google Fi vpn back on then the dashboard starts having issues. Is this something that can be looked into by Ring? I don't want to turn off the Google Fi VPN because it's supposed to enhance my service.

Thank you for the update on this, @JetRocket11! Due to the technical issues that VPNs can cause, and to maintain reliable performance and a seamless experience for our customers, we no longer support the use of VPNs. Additionally, our security systems block IP addresses used to exploit or attack our systems and occasionally VPN IP addresses fall into that category. At Ring we value your security and privacy. We are continually working to make our devices and services more useful and secure for our users, and are actively developing new security features and capabilities. Feel free to check out our [help center article](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052665251) about VPN for more information.

@Marley\_Ring How is Ring app going to function when VPN starts becoming common and packaged into cell service, etc.? As mentioned, I didn't go out and get a VPN app. It's something that is part of GoogleFI which is who I use for my cell provider. I am sure this will become more widely used and adopted by other providers as well. I think Ring needs to address this.

Ring: can you please forward this to advanced support. When I use my Iphone and log into the ring app I get a message **“Loading your dashboard ***this is taking longer then expected**** every freaking time when I go to log in. If I close the app then reopen it- the second time it works. So lets say I get an alert from any of my cameras- I click on the alert and it takes me to the app. The App just sits and spins forever and ever and ever and ever. I then close the app and get back in- then I can pull up a camera and log into it via Live View. Also lets say its been a few hours and I want to log into the app and pull up a recording. I do that and I get **“Loading your dashboard ***this is taking longer then expected**** every freaking time when I go to log in. If I close the app then reopen it- the second time it works. This happens on any device I try to use (such as Ipad or Iphone) and I have had this problem for over 2-3 months now. I assumed this was a software issues and eventually you would fix this. That has not happened. I have also called support a few times- most recently called them a few nights ago- and they said they were going to refer the ticket to advanced support and someone would call me. That never happened. Below is how my ring at home is setup. I assume the issue is most likely due to the fact that I have a lot of devices and the App is overloaded when it trys to update the devices for real time status? However can you please check on this and let me know. Its super frustrating that I have to open your app then close your app then reopen it everytime to actually do anything. Your APP is the only APP on my phone where this is an issue. I also do have the My Q Garage door plug in installed. So could that be the issue? **Network Setup** I am not using a VPN- and this issue happens with using Verizon (Cellular) as the Data network but also when I am home on the WiFi (Lan) using TP-LINK Deco M5 Mesh network at the house which has 1 GIG download speed and 40 Mbps upload and being the only person home. So this isn’t a routing issue, a router issue or a network issue. It’s a software issue. Also just curious- Amazon owns Ring? Amazon makes tablets- Fire HD. I own one. However I don’t believe Amazon makes an app for the Ring that works on their own device? At least a few months ago when I tried it wasn’t there. Whats up with that? **Examples** iPhone 11 Pro Max iPhone XS Max I have uninstalled the ring App and reinstalled it and no change. I have also wiped the phone and reinstalled the app and no change. 2 Floodlight 3 Drop Cam (Battery Powered) 1 Ring Doorbell Version 2.0 (Battery powered) 1 Ring Alarm 4 First Alert Co Alarm-First Alert Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm 1 Chime 1 Chime Pro 3 Keypads 2 Panic Buttons 1 Range Extender 2 Sirens 15 Door Contact Sensors 4 Motion Sensors **MyQ Garage Door** App plug in with Ring is set up **(Could this be the issue)** **Key Delivery** - Amazon home Delivery through My Q **(Could this be the issue)**

I’m also having the same problem. Happens on Wi-Fi or cellular. I have gig symmetric fiber internet and the ring alarm is run on Ethernet. And my phone gets good cell service and 600/600 on Wi-Fi. I get the dashboard taking longer than expected every time I first open the app and if I force close it then open it, it’ll work.

I'm having the same issue. But in my case the only Ring device I have is the Video Doorbell 4, and no garage door app nor Key Delivery. No Amazon Alexa device either. Phones using Ring are 2 iPhone 11 Pro Max's.
