New update to Ring APP has removed Lights, event history, Other Devices (Garage door opener)
app-settings
wireless-security-cameras
app-request

Ring app was working beauttifully till Thrursday Nov 21st 2024, however, after the app was updated it is missing various features:- Event History button (tile) is gone - Lights on/off button is gone - Before the update if camera light was on, there used to be a small yellow bulb now it has disappeared even if light is on  - Other devices like Garage Door opener button is gone The developer did a very poor job and pushed the new version of app to production wiithout doing proper testing. Ring should investigate these issues immediately and address it quickly by pushing the previous version of Ring app to all the devices.

Hi @user_41d95f. Shortcuts have not been removed, but they have been moved to the bottom of the Ring app main dashboard. If you swipe down past your camera previews, you can see your shortcuts. You can learn more about the recent improvements to the Ring app here.

This is not an improvement, this is stupidity ... people go to the app to control devices - not to look at cameras ... most people go to look at the cameras *only* in response to a notification ... most people go to the dashboard to access the devices that you have been pushing ... let shared users put the devices above the cameras.

What about the notification indicators on each camera? Is there a setting we can toggle anywhere to get those back? I’m not like albrandwood. I actually do use the app primarily for camera surveillance. I have 9 cameras on my property. (Used to have a legit stalker and have additional police report filed for another wierdo on my property.) I religiously check my cameras and relied very heavily on that indicator to know if I missed alerts. I’ve been spinning my wheels a little this morning checking cameras that don’t have alerts, but there’s no way to know. I have to remember or write down the last time I checked and check all of them. Is there a way to get that alert indicator back on each camera?

Improvements LOL its a disaster in every way. More upselling and less functionality, I guess I shouldn't be surprised

The Lights tile is gone and not at the bottom of the Ring app Main Dashboard.  I'm experiencing the same issues and dissatisfaction all of the other users are mentioning.  The link from Caitlyn_Ring does not help in any way.

Agreed, this was a bad add.  Losing quick convenient status & access to my front door lock is not adding value to my experience.

The loss of functionality is disconcerting. It’s possible the functions are available but hidden. For example, how do I turn on all the lights on my ring floodlight pro cameras? They are not a separate light-only device, but a camera/light combo. If I want to turn on every one of them in my account with one button (like I could do one week ago), how do I do that? The linked page from the Ring representative does not mention this ability.

They removed that feature so they could add the 'Whats New' upselling widget. Just incase you missed the giant 'Discover More' tile. Because, you know, we all use our ring app to buy more ring products not to actually use their cameras right?

I do NOT like this new layout at all! Moving devices below cameras is terrible. I need to quickly, without scrolling, see my door locks and thermostat.  Please put it back with the tiles at the top of allow users to move them above the cameras.

They really messed up the app, so badly I'm considering going through the painstaking trouble of taking out my entire Ring system, all my cameras and lock and thermostat, and changing companies.  The biggest problem of all is the red indicator number that used to appear at the corner of each camera telling you how many activities you've missed since last checking. Now I have no way to know how much I've missed, now I have to check each camera even if there wasn't any motion because there's no way to know if there was or was not activity, AND I have to remember how far back on the timeline bar to scroll back to make sure I dodnt miss anything because there's no way to know when I last checked without writing it down or memorizing it. Notifications is NOT a reasonable substitute either. I have 3 locations, tons of cameras. I can't rely on notifications. When I'm at work or busy, I can't always check those, sometimes I have to swipe them away. I need to be able to go into the app and see the count for each camera that has activity.  This is the equivalent of going from cable internet back to dial-up.  Very frustrating.

Agreed! I relied so heavily on that notification indicator. I’m about 4 hours into having this update and already so annoyed. I’m already spinning my wheels checking cameras that nave no motion alerts, but I can’t tell which one’s need checking anymore. I just have to remember or write down what time I last checked and then review all of them.

I am unfortunately going through the same process. They really have ruined the entire functionality of the system.

I depended on the red light to tell me how many videos were waiting to be viewed. Why take that away?  Now they’ve taken away the blue highlight to let you know where you are before moving to the next video. What are they doing?? Sounds like programmers gone wild. Cut it out. Ruining a decent app. Why??
