Critical Alerts in Do Not Disturb is now broken on Android

alarm-alerts

I am a long-time user and have always been able to set up the android app so that only critical alerts are delivered when my phone is in Do Not Disturb mode. This is a well-documented feature (here https://support.help.ring.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360039406772-Critical-Alerts-for-Ring-Alarm-in-Do-Not-Disturb-mode 2 and here Critical Alerts for Ring Alarm in Do Not Disturb Mode), and in the app (under Settings > Alert Settings > Alarm > PUSH > Mobile Device Do Not Disturb Settings) where it says “Emergency Alerts will be delivered when your mobile device is in Do Not Disturb mode.” However since 5/17/2024, when I have this setting enabled, I am now getting EVERY SINGLE RING NOTIFICATION breaking through Do Not Disturb, not just the Emergency Alerts. This makes this feature, and the entire alarm system, useless. I cannot accept receiving EVERY SINGLE RING NOTIFICATION go off waking me up in the middle of the night, for example every time a cat walks across my driveway. Please don’t tell me to turn on People-Only mode because I want to be alerted when a car pulls up not just people. So now my choices are to either get woken up multiple times during the night by motion alerts, or to have to not receive Critical Alerts during those hours. This was a feature that was working perfectly fine and now it is broken and it is urgently needed to be fixed!!!FYI Critical/Emergency Alerts are the ones where your system is alarming due to a break-in, completely unacceptable that [only] these can no longer break through Do Not Disturb mode.

Hi @Jabba. Your concern seems similar to what other neighbors experienced in this Community post here, which has a marked solution.

This link and the other one you posted in your other reply to my post both do not exist, "404 not found"

@Jabba. I apologize for that. We made some updates to the Community, and some posts did not transition over correctly. As for your concern, our team looked into it, and it was determined to be a limitation with Android 14.
